Sometimes you meet someone who puts your own problems in sharp perspective. Meet Hoang, 43 years old and disfigured since birth. Deserted by his family because of his appearance he is alone in a city of 12 million people. Hoang survives by selling lottery tickets on the street. I am grateful for his courage in letting me make his photograph. I hope it does him justice.
Sometimes the background tells the story as much as the subject does, and sometimes it screams it.
